1. Choose a theme for a WordPress Website
After the completion of WordPress installation first and the foremost thing comes in mind is the Appearance or the theme of the website that suits your style.
You may not like the default theme which comes with WordPress by default. If you’re not going to one of those themes, then you need to change it right.
Simply go to the WP menu, go to Appearance » Themes. Then, choose the one which you like the most. If you have purchased theme then upload by clicking Add New » Upload Theme. Then choose the “.zip” file.
Once the theme selection or uploading is done, click Activate
2. Remove default Permalink Structure
Change the permanent URL structure which is your Permalink Structure. Default Permalink structure is plain and looks like yourdomain.com/?p=123 which is you or our search engine don’t like it and simply it’s not a search friendly.
Change it to a readable format from the WP menu » Setting » Permalinks » Select Post name.
3. Install Essential and Delete Unused Default Plugins
There are some plugins already installed make sure you need them or not. If not, then remove it.

6. Remove Default Content
After installing and setting up WordPress you’ll find a sample post “Hello World!”

7. Change or Remove Default Sidebar Widget

8. Create a Page
To showcase your website elements create pages like Home, Blog, Services, Contact, and About.
Go to WP menu » Pages » Add New. Name it as Home if you are creating the first page. Now go to Setting » Reading. Under “Front Page Displays” section, choose “A static page“, then select the Homepage which you’ve created.
If you want your new post to display under the particular page, then go to Setting » Reading. Under “Front Page Displays” section, choose “Posts Page“, then select the specific page in which you want to show your new post.
9. Create a Contact Us page
If you want to your visitor to contact you then create a Contact Us page for it. As we talk about Contact form plugins simply add a new contact form plugins and integrate it.
10. Create a Menu
After you have created pages like Home, Blog, About, and Contact Us now the time is to show it on your homepage for easy navigation.
To create a custom menu, go to WP menu » Appearance » Menus

Now you can drag, order, reorder and rename menu items, then click Save menu.
11. Create an Admin
For security purpose, you have to change admin username to a unique one. By default, a username is admin and hackers knows and use it to get into your site. Also change the password to a strong one which includes a letter, number, and special character.
12. Add Author
If you have multiple authors then you must add an Author name. Don’t know how to do it simply go to WP menu » Users » Add New and create a new author profile. Set Username and password and role of the author in your website.
13. Set Favicon
A favicon also known as a shortcut icon, website icon, tab icon, URL icon, or bookmark icon is a quick identification of your website across the web. You can easily set favicon. Go to Appearance » Customize » Site Identity tab from WP menu. Click on the select file and upload the favicon.
14. Set Gravatar
Globally Recognized Avatar is a specific avatar that WordPress uses to show your identity around the web.
You can easily create a Gravatar by going to gravatar.com.
15. Set Homepage Banner
